InstaDeep, an AI company founded in Tunis, built an Early Warning System with BioNTech that flagged more than 90 percent of the COVID variants the WHO later designated - on average about two months before they were officially named.
The system scored new viral sequences for risk in under a day, spotting dangerous variants at the global biosecurity frontier from AI built in Africa.
InstaDeep was founded in Tunis in 2014 with two laptops and no outside funding.
