Invisible Giant

The super-app reaching for a country's last unbanked millions

30 million users and counting.

The Global South's super-apps are not conveniences. They are the financial system, arriving all at once.

In Vietnam, most people were paid in cash and reached by no bank.

MoMo started with the smallest transactions - a top-up, a bill, a coffee - and grew into a super-app serving more than 30 million users, still building toward the roughly 60 million Vietnamese with no bank account. Payments, savings, insurance, and credit now move through it, delivered via 70-plus banks to people none of them would have reached alone.
